Anthroposophical Studies at Rudolf Steiner House September 2011. – June 2012. PARZIVAL & STUDY OF KARMA LECTURES course leader: Andrew Wolpert Wolfram von Eschenbach’s epic tale of Parzival is the story of a quest : a journey through the earthly world of joy, learning, pain, failure, suffering, experience, recognition and self-knowledge in quest of the highest spiritual vision and ideals that live in the human heart. In the forthcoming programme of the Steiner Seminar in Budapest we will be offering the opportunity to work with this literary masterpiece as part of our Anthroposophical Studies. We will explore the themes of destiny, biography, pedagogy, mythology and history in the context of the legends of King Arthur, the Mysteries of the Grail, and the esoteric Christianity which lies at the heart of the work of Rudolf Steiner. It will be part of our journey to discover how this 800 year old story has such present relevance, dealing with archetypal human and social realities, modern questions of our relationship to God, and the drama of our daily life here on earth and so many of the issues we face in the twenty-first century.. The work will take place over the following 9 weekends with an introductory lecture on Friday evenings and a seminar on the Saturdays offering more detailed study of the text with interpretations and discussions. This will be accompanied by painting workshops where the dynamics and intensity of the themes can come to expression in colour. Saturday evenings will conclude with a lecture specifically on the chapters dealt with. Sunday mornings will be an opportunity to study a selection of the Karma lectures Rudolf Steiner gave in 1924 with particular reference to the spiritual and earthly events that led to Rudolf Steiner re-founding of the Anthroposophical Society at Christmas 1923/4.
